GasNet, the leader in natural gas distribution in the Czech Republic, has put into operation the first public mobile self-serve unit for liquefied natural gas (LNG) on the Czech market.

Drivers of LNG-powered trucks can now fill up conveniently in the Volvo Group Truck Center Prague North in Klecany. The new public self-serve fueling facility is located only eight kilometers from the Czech capital. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Payments are simple and convenient, made using fuel cards GasNet distributes to its customers. “LNG is an cost-effective, eco-friendly, and efficient alternative to traditional fuels. LNG technology has been tried and tested over more than 20 years. We estimate that the number of LNG-powered trucks in the Czech Republic will be increasing fast, at a similar rate as is the case with compressed natural gas (CNG). Likewise, we are confident that LNG will play a key role in meeting the Czech Republic’s environmental targets for the years 2025 and 2030 as regards reducing emissions,” says GasNet’s Chief Financial Officer Thomas Merker. “Our objective is to establish a market for liquefied natural gas in the freight transport sector. In view of that, the launch of our first mobile fueling facility is an important milestone. Likewise, it is a clear signal to carriers that we are committed to improving the availability and accessibility of LNG as well as the LNG infrastructure and technologies,” Merker adds.
